ODE TO BIOLOGY

The way life lives is multifarious stuff

Oxygen, carbon and sugar alone, simply aren’t enough.

Put them altogether organically

And one can study life through biochemistry.

Beginning  with the cell, they must breath and irrigate

Give them loads of  fuel so they  will propagate.

Organelles and enzymes, microtubules,

DNA and RNA and macromolecules.

Bonding isn’t easy but we know it can be done

Covalent and ionic  but hydrogen’s the One.

Two atoms come together, electrons they will share

Watch them walk on water, nothing does compare.

Lipids don’t like water they’re the only one that tries

To stay away from H2O and won’t metabolize.

(monosaccharide’s  end up on your thighs)

Metabolism, synthesis; these functions give and take

Without a single one of them, no more life we’d make.
